Liminal Spaces (part one)

He was grocery shopping when the fog hit. He didn’t notice it at first, he never did; it only became clear this time when he dropped a can of beans into his basket and it fell through the basket onto the floor with a clatter. He bent over to pick it up, but there was no can anymore, and then there was no floor. The fingers of his left hand closed until they were against his palm, no longer holding a handle.
